Digital signage

How much does digital signage cost?

Last updated:

Digital signage costs £500 to £1,500 per screen for small UK deployments and £3,000 to £10,000 per location for chain rollouts with video walls, sales-feed integration or interactive elements. On top of hardware, expect £15 to £40 per screen per month for the content management system. Prices vary with screen size, brightness, install complexity and how many sites are tied into a single CMS tenant.

The price has four components:

ComponentTypical rangeNotes
Commercial display£400 to £2,500 per screen32" to 75" indoor; brighter window-facing 2,500 nit panels are the upper end
Media player£0 to £400 per screen£0 if the panel has a built-in System on Chip; £150 to £400 for a BrightSign or small PC
Install + cabling£150 to £600 per screenHigher for ceiling drops, video walls, structural mounts
CMS subscription£15 to £40 per screen per monthCheaper at scale; a 1-screen free tier exists with Yodeck

Where it gets expensive: outdoor signage runs £4,000 to £15,000 per screen because of IP-rated enclosures, sun-readable 2,500 to 5,000 nit panels and structural mounting; video walls add £1,000 to £2,000 per panel for thin-bezel commercial displays plus a video wall processor; interactive touch displays add £500 to £1,500 over a passive equivalent; sales-feed or stock integration is custom development at consultancy day rates.

For a single-site retailer with 1 to 4 indoor menu or promo screens, a sensible budget is £2,000 to £6,000 all-in plus £600 to £1,500 a year on the CMS. For a multi-site chain rolling digital signage across 20+ locations, per-site cost typically drops to £2,500 to £4,000 because hardware is bought in bulk and software is licensed at volume tiers.

The figure most quotes miss is content production. Commissioned video, animated menu templates and weekly content cadence isn't free; budget £200 to £800 per month per active network if you want the screens to actually drive sales rather than display the same loop forever.

Quick reference: small retail £500-£1,500/screen install + £15-£40/screen/month CMS; chain rollout £3k-£10k per location; outdoor £4k-£15k per screen.
