How much does a video wall cost?

Video wall pricing in the UK varies widely. As a rough guide, a small 2×2 LCD video wall in a reception area typically starts from around £10,000–£20,000, while a high-resolution direct-view LED installation for a control room, atrium or auditorium can run from £40,000 to over £150,000 depending on size, pixel pitch and content management requirements.

Five factors drive most of the difference between quotes:

Display technology

LCD video walls — built from bezelled commercial-grade displays — are the most cost-effective option for indoor spaces where viewers stand more than 2m back. Direct-view LED commands a premium because it delivers a truly seamless surface, brighter output and finer pixel pitches for closer viewing distances.

Size and pixel pitch

A larger overall surface area or a finer pixel pitch (1.2mm vs 2.5mm) significantly increases cost per square metre. Finer pitch lets the viewer stand closer without seeing individual pixels, which matters in control rooms or executive briefing centres but is overkill for atrium signage.

Content & control system

A single static feed costs little to drive. A digital signage CMS like CleverLive Pro, or a multi-source video processor showing 16 camera feeds simultaneously, adds processing hardware and licensing to the project total.

Installation complexity

Structural support, power provisioning, cable runs, IT integration and access equipment all factor in. Any wall-mounted display over ~100kg needs a structural survey before installation — and an LED video wall can easily weigh 150–200kg.

Ongoing support

Most clients opt for an annual support contract covering preventative maintenance, remote monitoring, spare-module replacement and on-site call-outs. This is typically priced as a percentage of the original installation value and is often what determines whether a video wall remains reliable for the full 7–10 year lifespan.

The honest answer is that most video wall projects need a site survey before we can give a meaningful price. We'll come and measure your space, understand the use case, and come back with a transparent quote — broken down by hardware, installation, commissioning and support.

Our video wall installation process

We deliver every video wall installation end-to-end — from the first site survey through to commissioning and ongoing support. Whether you're upgrading an existing display or specifying a new build, here's what working with Strive AV looks like.

1

Free site survey

A Strive AV consultant visits your premises to assess the proposed video wall location — ambient light, viewing distance, structural mounting options, power and network requirements.

2

Design & proposal

We design a solution tailored to your sector, audience and budget. The proposal includes specific hardware, mounting kit, content management, and a fully-costed installation breakdown — no hidden extras.

3

Project management

Once approved, a dedicated Strive project manager coordinates delivery, structural prep, IT integration, access equipment and the install team — with a single point of contact throughout.

4

Installation & commissioning

Our installers build and align the video wall, run power and signal cabling, integrate with your AV or signage systems, and test every input. A typical 3–4m LED video wall is installed and commissioned in 2–5 working days.

5

Training & handover

We train your in-house team on day-to-day operation, content scheduling and basic troubleshooting. You'll leave the handover able to run the wall confidently without us in the room.

6

Ongoing support

Optional support contract covering remote monitoring, on-site call-outs, spare-module replacement and annual preventative maintenance — keeping your video wall reliable for its full lifespan.

Video Wall FAQs

Q.How much does a video wall cost per square metre in the UK?

Direct-view LED video walls in the UK typically cost £4,000–£12,000 per square metre supplied and installed, depending on pixel pitch, brand and brightness. Fine-pitch indoor LED at 1.2mm or 1.5mm sits at the higher end (£8,000–£12,000/m²); 1.9mm and 2.5mm pitches for atriums and reception walls are usually £4,000–£7,000/m². LCD video walls built from bezelled commercial displays work out cheaper at roughly £1,500–£3,500 per screen including mounting and processing, which makes a 2x2 LCD wall around £8,000–£15,000 fully installed.

Q.What's the difference between LED, LCD and dvLED video walls?

LCD video walls use commercial-grade displays with thin bezels (typically Samsung VH or LG VL series) tiled into a grid — cost-effective but you'll always see hairline seams between panels. LED video walls use surface-mount diodes built into modular cabinets and produce a fully seamless image with higher brightness, which suits atriums, retail and broadcast. dvLED (direct-view LED) is the term for the latest generation of fine-pitch LED panels designed for indoor close-viewing applications like control rooms and boardrooms. We help clients pick based on viewing distance, ambient light and budget.

Q.What pixel pitch do I need for my video wall?

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between LEDs and determines the closest comfortable viewing distance. The rule of thumb is 1mm of pitch per metre of viewing distance. For a control room with operators sitting 3m away, 2.5mm pitch is usually fine. Reception walls viewed from 4–6m work well at 1.9mm. Boardrooms and broadcast studios where viewers are within 2m typically need 1.2mm or 1.5mm. Atrium walls viewed from 8m+ can use 2.5mm or 2.9mm without any visible pixel structure.

Q.What configurations of video wall do you install?

We design and install all common video wall layouts including 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and ultra-wide bespoke aspect ratios. LCD video walls are typically 2x2 or 3x3 using 49-inch or 55-inch panels. LED walls are built to your exact dimensions in cabinet increments — we've delivered everything from 4m × 1m ticker-tape walls in trading floors to 6m × 3m atrium walls and curved cylindrical LEDs in retail experience centres. The shape of your space and the content aspect ratio drive the design more than fixed configurations.

Q.Which video wall processors and content systems do you support?

We integrate the leading video wall processors and controllers including Datapath FX4 and Aetria, Userful, Christie Phoenix, Extron Quantum, Samsung MagicInfo and the on-board Cleverlive Pro CMS for LED installations. Choice of processor depends on how many sources you need (two HDMI feeds versus 32 IP camera streams is a different problem) and whether the content is digital signage, dashboards, KVM operator workstations or live broadcast. We specify the processor as part of the design rather than as an afterthought.

Q.How long does a video wall installation take?

A 2x2 or 3x3 LCD video wall is typically installed and commissioned in 2–3 working days. A 3–4m direct-view LED wall takes 3–5 working days including structural mounting, power and signal cabling, processor configuration and testing. Larger atrium installations or installations requiring scaffolding or out-of-hours access can take 1–2 weeks. We always quote a specific install window after the site survey so you can plan around your operational hours and any access constraints.

Q.Do video walls need maintenance and spare modules?

Yes — direct-view LED video walls in particular benefit from an annual support contract that includes preventative maintenance, calibration and a stock of spare modules held either on-site or with a 4-hour or next-business-day SLA. Individual LED modules can fail over time, and having pre-matched spares means we can swap them out in minutes without waiting on the manufacturer. LCD walls are lower-maintenance but still benefit from annual checks for panel ageing and bezel alignment. Support contracts typically run at 8–12% of installed value per year.

Q.Do you provide content management and design for video walls?

Yes. We can deliver branded motion graphics, dashboard layouts and scheduled content as part of the project, or train your in-house marketing or comms team to manage content via the CMS. For multi-site retail or corporate signage we offer ongoing managed content services with playlist scheduling, dayparting and live data integration. Most clients combine an initial content launch package with a smaller monthly retainer for updates, seasonal campaigns and template refreshes.
