The Section 27 statutory guidance was published on 15 April 2026 and commencement is now being signalled as Spring 2027.

Commencement is now being signalled as Spring 2027 (likely April 2027). Legal AV FAQs

Q.What does AV for a typical UK law firm client meeting room look like?

A typical client meeting suite at a Magic Circle, Silver Circle or regional firm includes a 75–86 inch display, certified Microsoft Teams Rooms or Cisco Webex hardware (Logitech Rally Bar, Poly Studio X70 or Cisco Room Bar), beamforming ceiling microphones from Sennheiser TeamConnect or Shure MXA920 to maintain confidentiality at the table, wireless presentation via Mersive Solstice or Barco ClickShare, and a Crestron or Q-SYS control system with a single-touch start. Acoustic treatment is critical — partners expect zero echo and audible privacy from adjacent rooms.

Q.How do you build deposition and hearing rooms with recording?

Deposition and arbitration suites need broadcast-grade multi-camera coverage (typically 3–4 PTZ cameras from Sony or Panasonic), individual lapel or boundary microphones for each speaker, and forensic-grade recording with timecoded audio and video from Crestron Capture HD, Vaddio AV Bridge or Magewell. Output is delivered as evidential MP4 or MXF files with chain-of-custody documentation. Many UK chambers and arbitration venues (CIArb, LCIA) also need real-time transcription integration with Steno, Verbit or in-room stenographers.

Q.What about confidentiality and AV security for legal practice?

AV is a known weak spot for confidentiality breaches. We deliver systems with sound-masking outside meeting rooms (Cambridge Sound, Biamp), no-recording-by-default policies enforced in the control system, restricted USB ports, encrypted AV-over-IP, and air-gapped 'silent' rooms for the most sensitive M&A or litigation matters. We hold Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, and can support Lexcel and SRA compliance evidence as well as Law Society guidance on technology risk.

Q.How does video conferencing work for hybrid hearings and remote witnesses?

Modern UK hybrid hearings need certified VC endpoints that work reliably with the courts (CVP — Cloud Video Platform), arbitration providers and remote counsel. We typically deploy Cisco Webex Room Kits, Microsoft Teams Rooms or Pexip Infinity, with bridging to standards-based H.323/SIP for tribunals that mandate it. Remote witness rooms include a controllable PTZ camera, document camera (Wolfvision Cynap, Lumens) for evidence, and a gallery view of all attendees. We can support sealed envelope evidence handling protocols.

Q.Can you handle multi-office integration across legal practice?

Yes — partnerships with offices across London, regional UK and overseas typically need consistent room standards so a partner can pick up any meeting room and run a client call without IT support. We standardise on a small number of room kits (huddle, client meeting, partner office, hearing room) using Microsoft Teams Rooms or Cisco Webex, deploy them via local engineers under our project management, and run them centrally with Crestron XiO Cloud or Q-SYS Reflect. This is particularly valuable for firms with London + regional + overseas presence.

Q.What does a UK legal AV project cost?

A single client meeting room typically runs £15,000–£40,000 fully integrated. A deposition or hearing suite with recording and multi-camera capture is usually £35,000–£80,000. A full UK partnership office refit covering 8–15 rooms across reception, client floor and partner offices typically runs £200,000–£700,000. Multi-office partnership rollouts of 30+ rooms can sit between £500,000 and £2m depending on the standard chosen.

Q.Are there finance options suitable for partnerships and LLPs?

Yes. Most UK partnerships prefer to spread AV cost across an operating-expense agreement (typically 36 or 60 months) to avoid hitting partner drawings in any single year. We offer AV-as-a-Service from £200–£1,200 per room per month including hardware refresh and managed support, plus straight leasing through providers such as BNP Paribas Leasing, Aldermore and Shawbrook for capex projects. We can structure the contract so each office or partner takes on a share, simplifying internal recharges.

Q.Do you support hybrid mediations and remote arbitration?

Yes — hybrid mediations are now standard for the LCIA, ICC, CIArb and many High Court mediations. We design rooms with breakout-capable VC (so the mediator can shuttle between two parallel calls), screen privacy filters, separate caucus rooms each with their own VC endpoint, and a shared evidence display with revocable screen-share permissions. Recording is typically disabled by default in mediation rooms to maintain without-prejudice privilege; arbitration rooms have full recording with sealed evidential output.
